    Hello Jake.
    You have a great channel.
Thank you for providing great detail on installation and honest feedback.
I just did my first gba mod and your video helped me all the way.
I’m planning to do this as a hobby since I love electronics and gaming.
I had a couple of suggestions.
I used kapton tape to hold the screen to the plastic piece that you forgot to use in your other video to hold it in place while installing it to the shell. Wish I can post a picture here.
Other than that I followed your video and everything worked flawlessly.
I will continue to watch your videos.

    Thank you

  2. What-the?… How did it come to this. First I hear about an IPS screen years ago, then a V2 which I assume rids of the V1's orange hue. And now it's a whole thing where you have 5 different iterations of IPS screens. What's next? 720×480 OLED screens? The Switch uses OLEDs. Though that isn't very wise. I understand why companies are just throwing OLEDs into their legally distinct Steam Decks. OLEDs wear out, we should be using QLEDs for durability.

  3. My hispeedido v5 I bought on AliExpress from the hispeedido store says laminated but also says drop in so I have no idea what I’ve purchased 😂

    I usually build 1 of each, for Example I own the following;
    GBC: GBA: GBA SP:
OG V2 FP OG V2 HSP OG V2 IPS
OG V2 HSP OG ITA FP OG V2 HSP
IPS Q5 V3 IPS FP ITA SP KIT
    2 x Amoled AGS-101 Mod V3 IPS FP

All this being said, I pretty much like them all. My favorites being AMOLED for GB and for GBA/GBA SP my favorite being IPS V3 or yes even ITA (The colors are less saturated and come closer to original AGS-101 which for some games like Golden sun, are very good rendering, love the battery life of both V3 and ITA and the features).

  5. Great video Jake!
If i had to choose this would be the perfect guide to choose from.
I bought a GBA with an v5 laminated IPS display on ebay for 82€ two weeks ago, because the seller fcked up the installation by breaking off some 0402 capacitors on the gba pcb and ripping off two solder pads on the IPS PCB (SEL and R IIRC).. But nothing you can't fix with a hot air station for 25€, some flux and spare capacitors^^.

Before that i had a v2 IPS GBA which i got from ebay as a non functioning bundle too. That kit was already nice and all, but i hated that i only had one touch button for brightness and the screen filters combined (short and long presses).. I accidentaly changed the screen filter so many times by just showing my brother something.. (the touch pad didn't come with a long wire, but rather a 1cm flex cable pad, which came directly off the display ribbon)

With the v5 i have the OSD + SEL L/R controls, which are just perfect imho. v5 any day baby!
Currently i'm thinking about getting a lipo usb-c kit, but i'm not quite sure which one yet.. I really want the "play while charging" feature..

I've watched the video the whole way through. But I'm still stuck on whether to go with the V2 or the V5. The V2 has better battery, but the V5 looks slightly better. I'm not sure.

  7. I just want to know whose bright idea was it to start putting touch sensors on GBAs to begin with

  8. I came here from your OEM drop-in video and was about to cart out with the Hyperspeedio dropin screen from your link…. I just wanted to ask though, is that still gonna be my best/only option if using the oem shell? I thought i might be able to trim the shell to make a dif screen fit.

  9. Where do you suggest buying fully modded GBC or GBA? Just now getting into it after the nostalgia hit. Also do you have any gameboys that are original parts and everything? If so do you play them or are they display only? Sorry I am so new to this

  10. @joeymasterson4395

The screen size should always be larger. The graphics are better that way. Especially if you wear glasses like me. Seeing is believing. 👍🏼

  11. @oliverreineke84

    Awesome Video.
I’m going to build my first build and didn’t know where to start. Now I know that I’m going with a V2 thx !

  12. The reason the V2 lasts longer than the V5 is simply the higher resolution, v2 is 480×320 so 4 displaypixel is one gamepixel, V5 is 720×480 so 9 Displaypixel is 1 gamepixel. Higher resolution = more power hungry

  13. What is the best screen replacement if I want to use the original shell, with none or the minimum amount of triming and easy alignement (i.e. "true" drop in) ?

  14. @SlimAdventures

As someone who has never done this, the beginning is like another language.. try explaining it like your talking to someone who doesn’t know what a ips or cgs or anything like that.. I’m lost from the beginning
