  1. Im new to modding, but having watched a bunch and even successfully completed my first mod recently (gbc), one thing im leaning towards is avoiding funnyplaying, im prob misinformed but i swear ive heard about issues with them throughout the videos ive seen on your or other channels. Right now idk if i ever want to try a funnyplaying display, 🤷‍♂️ maybe ill change my mind but for now, thats my opinion

  2. I think @makho had the same issue in his newest video on this kit. I think the new bracket might be better designed and may have helped prevent the cracked post. Not sure though. Makho seemed the like the new one better, iirc.

  3. This is a great review! I appreciate that you went in deep in your experience with this laminated IPS kit. I am sure many of your followers will appreciate it 🥳🥳🥳

Yes they can follow suit of the GBC that would solve the lens bezel gap and not use brackets.I feel like also the touch pad should be next to the trade port so it's not accidentally touched all the time. Like how the touch sensor is near the IR port on the GBC.

  5. Hi guys, how can i clean some old adesives glue residues on my GBA? I was reading that isopropyl alcohol can damage the plastic of any consoles

This has became one of my favorite youtube channels wow. You got a video on how to align new screens right? I bought a new plug in and drop screen for my GBA but when I put it in, it cuts off part of the top and a little of one side. Any tips?

  7. i wish you would mention the Image Retention problem that the ips screens have 🙁 other than that it was a really nice video

  8. love the red shell and black buttons you use in this video. If you dont mind me asking can you link me to the exact shell ?

  9. Appreciate all the info. I just picked up a GBA and am excited to do this mod, but maybe I'll just pick up a few more games for my GBC and wait for the next revision of this mod. Funny Playing seems fairly quick to address issues with their products anyway

I was really excited for this kit buuuuuuut it was so annoying to put together. I've had so much fun with every laminated GBC I've built. I'm not sure I would recommend it to people. Maybe if funnyplaying fixed the shell issue like you mentioned.

  11. Ngl your "not soldering tutorial" soldering tutorial was so clear that I'm way more confident in doing it lol I was going to do it either way, but that quick explanation was actually super good. I want to make sure I get it semi clean, and that was very straightforward.

  12. Dude I just found you on YouTube a couple days ago, and I absolutely love everything you do. My friends will hear about you as well. Keep up, and catch them all! Cheers from Hungary.

I found my GBA and it doesn't work anymore, so I got to open it to see what wrong with it.

The laminated screens are exciting but I’ll probably wait for a drop-in version. The original shells just can’t be beat

  15. The instructions say that foam is not required with the newest bracket version but you are using foam. Which is correct?

Just ordered the laminated v3 ips, shell, buttons and usb-c battery. even used your "JAKE" code and it still worked! Sold my ags-101 to get some money for it . can't wait to build it!

  17. Are you sure you're not an engineer? That was a really good analysis of the touch sensor problem. I've encountered the same problem on one of my kits, ended up cutting it in half and not taping it to the glass. Problem solved.

Does anyone have any experience with the new laminated ITA kit for the GBA SP versus the AGS-101 screen? I'm not a huge fan of the IPS screens and all their "smoothness". I prefer the slightly more pixelated look and tone of the AGS-101 screen. If there is anyone else out there who feels the same way, or similar, how do you feel the new laminated ITA kit stacks up to the coveted AGS-101 screen?

  19. I just started having these touch sensor issues on my funny playing laminated GBC. It seems to happen when I subject the console to high humidity. I've had the kit installed since February with no issues until recently when it got hot and humid outside. When I take it back into air conditioning it seems to go away. I'm going to try trimming the sensor like you did with one of these kits

  20. You should have used the new screen bracket, it works really well and no need for any of the foam. That's why they made the new one.

  21. I've tried one funnyplaying shell, 3 funnyplaying screens and 3 RetroSix screens and 3 RetroSix shells. The touch pad of the old funnyplaying in the GBA was terrible. The contrast button control of the funnyplaying GBASP is much better. But the shoulder button control of the RetroSix on the GBASP is the best so far. I've not tried holding them side by side for contrast comparison yet. Have you tired any RetroSix kit? They also have an active discord for support, which is very nice to have!

  22. The GBA mod of the future will be when they move on to other models – much as I love the OG, I really, really want an IPS screen for my Gameboy Micro. Yes it's got a fairly good screen already – but not close to modern IPS standards. I'd also like them to get around to making IPS screens for DS Lites too. Why the hell haven't they expanded to these devices yet?

I really wanted to fix the adjustable brightness with the three soldered wires but I messed up the brass/copper pads on the pcb and now the solder wont stick to it, im gonna have to deal with full brightness or just get a new gameboy

  24. @rafaelyoung-diaz5256

I found you tonight during work. I do overnights for 12 hours & I now want to mod my gameboy so bad to play it at work🤣

Cool, is this your favorite among this and the Hispeedo laminated?

Try genuine Eclectic E6000 or carbon fiber/fiber glass epoxy instead of superglue (the best superglue, better than Loctite is the original Pinoy Pandikit from the Philippines) which could be a little brittle and weaker for torque (assuming it will be opened again).

    God bless us modders.
