  1. Thank you so much for uploading this! I was having a hard time finding someone who did a step by step guide for the exact AliExpress model I purchased! Sending love from japan❤

amazing kit best one out there just installed mine with soldering points and is amazing! thank you for this video and guide.

Are there any downsides of the laminated screen? I have a normal drop in and now I found out that there are laminated screens and I'm not sure if I should buy a laminated one

  4. Do you have to hold all three buttons at the same time to access the OSD menu or is it like funny playing where you only have to hold down select?

  5. @AdolfoAguilarVideos

Quick question. The package includes a Glass Panel Screen len. Do you have to put it on? Or is it okay without it?

great video, thanks . i received that kit at home looks great with regular cartridges but its giving me issues with Az , does anyone had the same problem? any solutions?

  7. @sadworldwelivein2218

I put the screen in and soldered everything. For some reason my gba doesn’t read gba games but gbc/gb it reads fine

  8. I just received my second v5 pre laminated in white. I sent the first back because of bleeding in the upper left half (a nice long line). Well, the second has exactly the same problem. Hispeedidio store said „this is normal with the white lense“. Well, then I'll pass… Very disappointing :/

  9. @hitgrimm2488

Ok now I’ve got a very important question…. Do you still have the option to play full screen when you read a GBC game using L & R ??

2:20 Color Pallettes is not dumb! There are some people who have problems with color. Like my friend who loves retro gaming. He has a problem with bright colors especially Neons. Even brightness adjustment can't do anything with his problem. When he saw some reviews about color palettes in gameboys, he didn't hesitate to buy those gameboy screen kits. He prefer the purple and pink palettes for those are not causing him headaches. Sometimes those kit were made by choice or intentional maybe for some people with those kinds of problem.

I'm looking to use the OEM indigo shell. Will the drop in v5 look as good as the laminated v5?

  12. Amazing video! But I cannot stop having problems with L & R. No matter where I solder them, one or both always have problems!

  13. So my shell unfortunately broke and i was wondering how difficult it is to rehouse the ips display into a new shell after already installing. Does it just slide out like it slid in?

  14. @RafaelusOptimus

I think color palettes are useful for people with color blindness/weakness

Maybe an actual color blindness in here can confirm?

  15. @SevenDeMagnus

Laminated, that's new for me. I hope it's not as significant if you already have the AGS-101 screen mod.

    God bless.

  16. @SevenDeMagnus

Hi while they haven't separated the screen enough, it may be best to put the scren on a iced gell pad with cloth so that LCD don't get overheated (plus a fan maybe).

I was down the homestretch, but for some reason none of the screws this thing came with work for the inside now I have a screw stuck in the inside that I can’t get out

Jay I received all the parts and tools in the mail and finally finished this awesome build! Looks beautiful and the GBA is so much better with this screen and USB-c charging (which I ordered with my kit) is also an awesome upgrade. The build was great BUT there are a few important notes which I didn't pick up in the video:

    – The plastic shell is a bit softer than the original and does not match very well with the original screws. On the first try it was a pain to fit everything together and required a lot of force to screw everything into place. As a result, the pole which holds the bottom screw inside the battery compartment actually broke off. I managed to glue this back into place with superglue and on the second attempt, with the replacement screws from Hispeedio, everything came together smoothly. I also have one minor crack in another place.

    – I fitted the upper touch sensor right above where the flex cable sits (this is the most natural place to fit the sensor, I believe I also saw it sitting there in Hispeedio's instructions). However, apparently the flex cable interacts with the sensor and causes it to keep switching between screen modes. Very annoying of course, so I opened everything up again and fitted the sensor more to the right side of the GBA. All in all I never use these sensors and would skip them in a next build.

    Hope this helps!

  19. @SuperRainbowPoptarts

If I didn’t want the touch sensor pads could I just snip the wire with some cutters rather than trying to solder them off ?

  20. Hey what tempurature for soldering iron did you use on the back of the display? I'm fairly new to soldering so I just want to be safe.

  21. @aaronkucherka142

So I went the solderless route like you said on your video and it lit up for like a second when I tested it and after that it stopped and I don’t know exactly where I went wrong

  22. IPS V5 it's really cool, very easy to install, but it would be nice that the three cables were previously soldered to avoid a possible dark spot, like mine 🥲 I hope they re-release an update just to make it easier.

  23. Just my luck. I ordered mine when they were having a weeklong vacation in China lol. If the tracking is correct, my package is about 2 hours away.

  24. @MrFreezeProduct

MAN! I finally did it, after watching a handfull of your videos.
I got myself this screen and soldered it myself. Thank a million. My GBA is now an amazing thing!!

  25. The colour filters are probably for when you play og Gameboy games my bro 😁 GBA can play those remember 🤙
