Let's Install A Backlit IPS Screen In a Gameboy Color – How To

The toolkit I use –

The backlit model I used – (The original kit I used is no longer solder. The one linked here seems to be the new replacement kit offered for sale from the same retailer. It requires soldering for brightness adjustment, but none for any other functionality)

The video guide I followed and watched before hand –

And the written guide I had open if I needed it –

  1. You needed more heat on the touch sensor. I'm willing to bet that if you hold the cable and the touch sensor and pull a little, the wire would become loose. Not a huge issue though. Any time you're soldering to a (relatively) large piece of metal, try to visualize the heat being sucked away because that's basically what's happening. And see those silicon mats ? If you have one you don't use anymore, cut a square of that and use it to solder over. You don't want to burn your desk.

Can I ask someone's advice please? I've got my replacement screen working perfectly but I cannot align the screen properly? What's the best method to align it perfectly?

I bought mine from here but it didnโ€™t come with the sensor and when I tried installing it the screen didnโ€™t even turn on feeling kinda ripped off tbh

I have another question, is it save to trim all those little metal dots down? Doesnโ€™t it ruin something?

  8. Freaking amazing video, man. It was so helpful to follow someone talk through what they're doing. Plus it's a relaxing experience that can take 25+ minutes, ya know? We don't wanna be rushed as tinkerers so your longer video tutorial is quite refreshing
