The toolkit I use –
The backlit model I used – (The original kit I used is no longer solder. The one linked here seems to be the new replacement kit offered for sale from the same retailer. It requires soldering for brightness adjustment, but none for any other functionality)

Nice mod it looks great
You needed more heat on the touch sensor. I'm willing to bet that if you hold the cable and the touch sensor and pull a little, the wire would become loose. Not a huge issue though. Any time you're soldering to a (relatively) large piece of metal, try to visualize the heat being sucked away because that's basically what's happening. And see those silicon mats ? If you have one you don't use anymore, cut a square of that and use it to solder over. You don't want to burn your desk.
Hi, very nice video, where can i buy that Backlit IPS Screen? I want to try it on my Old GBC
Why this video doesn't blow up, this is insane!!
Thanks
Very cool nice slow
Now youโve had it a while how long do the batteries last?
Can I ask someone's advice please? I've got my replacement screen working perfectly but I cannot align the screen properly? What's the best method to align it perfectly?
Great vid!
thank you this was usefull I installed a different mod kit but still used this as a guide. also nice tip on the flush cutters and trimming down the pins.
Gbc and gba and games especially pkmn crystal are still the best unlike n3ds games.
Nice Video.
Where did you get your ips screen and how expensive are they bud?
MY screen does not power on but my gameboy does. I actually just bought two and niether both are black. Any ideas?
Did u have any problem with the d pad after trimming the shell?
Does the little metal plate ever interfere with the ir sensor?
i got my great grandmothers Gameboy color and she lived in Louisiana and she passed away in 2017 and when I opened it for the fist time it had a lot of little bugs stuck in side like little cockroaches and other bugs I thought about putting a backlight in it and I kwon that she would be proud of me if I did that and when she passed away we had her laptop and it had her password locked so I removed the password and put a new password I have specials needs and I kwon how to work on stuff like electronics
Thank you
You need to fir too much in too small of a space. I would wait a year or two for a smaller version to come out.
This helped so much for me it was so simple and easier compared to the others๐
I bought mine from here but it didnโt come with the sensor and when I tried installing it the screen didnโt even turn on feeling kinda ripped off tbh
After watching this I have confirmed i would rather buy one already modded ๐คฃ
So many simple mistakes that can be made
Where did you get the screen from?
yo i bought this kit a lot time ago and forgot about it. This vidoe was a life saver thank you!
Make sure to trim the D-pad rubber pad or the up direction will be unresponsive.
That's gameboy color color and that Pokemon Crystal combo hits all the nostalgia ๐คฉ I need asap!
Awesome!!
Biggest win on this kit? No soldering!
Do you have to solder anything? I don't have any thing like that.
I have another question, is it save to trim all those little metal dots down? Doesnโt it ruin something?
Freaking amazing video, man. It was so helpful to follow someone talk through what they're doing. Plus it's a relaxing experience that can take 25+ minutes, ya know? We don't wanna be rushed as tinkerers so your longer video tutorial is quite refreshing

Great video.
